Bone Club's own Oliver Squire is off to the UBC semi's in Monte Carlo to face some giant opponents. Three of them in fact.
Hideaki Ueda, Michy, Marc Olsen and Oliver go head to head on the semi's are 25th-26th July. 6 matches per day, 12 in total. Round robin format where everyone plays everyone. A player is eliminated once they have no mathematical chance of winning.
Michy was the 1st to qualify in Texas, followed by Marc in Istanbul, Hideaki in Japan and Oliver in Sweden. Oliver was the only player to play 2 of the regional qualifiers. He lost the pr qualifying spot for the quarters in Japan by a hair, losing to Hideaki in a streamed match which contributed to the defeat. So he decided to go for Sweden to earn his rematch with him in Monaco. He won the quarters in a hard fought battle against many opponents including Sebastian Wilkinson (another Bone Club Pro).
He is looking to forward to a great battle.
We say congratulations to Oliver Squire for winning the UBC Contender Sweden and wish him good luck and a focussed mind, to him in the UBC semi's.
As soon as one battle ends another ones starts. Oliver then enters the World Championship, also taking place in Monte Carlo.
The semi's are in Monte Carlo, starting Saturday, July 25 at 2:00 PM UTC. You can see many streamed matches on the Backgammon Galaxy YouTube channel.
