They seek him here, they seek him there, he gets everywhere — the magnificent Peter Hodson!

Yes, the Brighton Breezy backgammon tournament made it onto ITV News, and who should be front and centre of the action but Bone Club’s very own, wonderfully colourful Ambassador Peter. If you catch the broadcast (from 3:39 in), you will immediately understand why he was selected: A) the shirt was simply too good to ignore, and B) the vocabulary was always going to be broadcast gold.

Peter was proudly flying the Bone Club flag with his custom LENNOX board on display, adding a proper touch of class to the coverage. He even attempted to drop the “BC bomb” on air, but sadly ITV were having none of it — perhaps next time, Peter, perhaps next time.

Our favourite line was how ITV referred to Peter and his collegues as 'night workers'. Just wonderful.

Joking aside, it was genuinely great to see the Brighton tournament getting mainstream coverage. It came across as a fantastic advert not just for the event itself, but for backgammon as a whole — showing the game as it should be: social, competitive, and quietly addictive.

What makes it even better is that this isn’t a one-off. Backgammon really does seem to be on the up again, with recent coverage in both The Telegraph and The Times. There is a real sense that the game is finding a new audience while reconnecting with its old one — and that can only be a good thing.

So, hats off to Peter for representing in his own inimitable style, and for being exactly the kind of ambassador the game needs: enthusiastic, visible, and slightly impossible to ignore.

Keep on keeping the faith, Peter. And next time, we will get Bone Club on the news.
